Display and Touch
First, this phone lives up to its gaming claims. With a 120-Hz display and a 960-Hz multitouch sampling rate, gaming on this phone is accompanied with fluid viewing and unimpeded touch interactions. This computer has opted for a lower refresh rate than the previous generation, which boasted a 165-Hz panel, but rates above 120 Hz are rarely exploited to their maximum potential.
Design Demerits
In addition to its proportions, the rear of the phone is extremely unattractive. The programmable RGB lighting will appeal to gamers who want a bit of style, but the heat dissipation plate’s sharp, angular pattern makes it appear less expensive than the rest of the robust metal construction. The rear of the phone does not support wireless charging. It is not a significant loss, and it is mitigated with a quick 65-watt wired charging.
Battery Life
So, certainly, gaming is the primary focus, but it’s not all horrible elsewhere. The dual-cell battery with a capacity of 5,000 mAh allows for rapid recharging, restoring the battery to full in around 30 minutes. Even with intermittent gaming, the size of the battery will allow for around one day of normal use at the 120 Hz refresh rate. Depending on the intensity of the game we played, the battery life on this gadget was approximately four hours when playing at maximum capacity.
Resolution and Browsing
The quality of the gaming-focused display is also conducive to watching video and having a good time while navigating through various applications. It has a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,400 by 1,080, resulting in visuals that are sharp and vivid. With a maximum brightness of 600 nits, you’ll have no issue viewing your TikToks or mobile games in any environment, and the 120-Hz refresh rate makes doomscrolling a little less doomscrolling-like, with smooth and wrinkle-free browsing. If you don’t play games on your phone, avoid purchasing one. Avoid even if you are a moderate mobile player. There are better all-around smartphones for casual gamers, such as the similarly priced Google Pixel 6.
Camera Enthusiasts Should Avoid
As a gaming device, the RedMagic 7 Pro is nearly flawless. Mobile gamers will not be let down. However, if you desire a more comprehensive experience, this phone is not for you. The first glaring error is the under-display selfie camera. With a screen that lacks a notch or cutout, this undoubtedly allows for excellent immersive viewing. The trade-off, however, is that the produced photographs lack detail and precision and have a murky overlay due to the screen placed in front. Even though there is no display to obstruct the back cameras, they are not much better. They may be adequate for catching the occasional moment, but you are unlikely to warmly recall them. Camera enthusiasts must avoid.
Speakers and Weight
The RedMagic 7 Pro speakers provide mediocre sound that is inaccurate at high levels and lacks pleasant bass. Thankfully, a headphone connector is available for those who prefer wired sessions. If you’re not used to gaming phones, the thickness and weight of this gadget, 9.98 mm and 0.52 lbs (235 g), will likely be difficult to hold if you’re not used to something with such power. There is no IP classification for dust or water resistance here.
Shoulder Snaps!
In addition to the great mobile gaming performance that is this device’s bread and butter, there are a number of other player-friendly enhancements. The capacitive shoulder buttons are the most noticeable. While a physical click might give a more gratifying connection, it is impractical to include moving parts on a smartphone. Touch with a nice level of vibration is a reasonable objective for gaming mobile devices, and the RedMagic 7 Pro achieves it. The two customisable buttons allow the user to upgrade from on-screen controls to more natural and conventional controls. Through Nubia’s Game Space app, which can be accessed by swiping to the left during games, it is incredibly easy to set up these options.

The Game Space overlay features a small bar that displays the time, frames per second, download speed, remaining battery life, and play session duration. The entire menu contains a greater variety of gaming choices, such as the ability to toggle 120-Hz mode, rapid access to social channels, and screen recording.
