Themes can be a great way to create a sense of camaraderie and give a unifying feeling to your server overall. When everyone participates in the theme, it can be a whole lot of fun, so I’d definitely recommend giving it a try!
1. Space Theme
If you’re a fan of the moon, stars and all things celestial, then I’d definitely recommend trying out a space theme for your server! You could give space-themed role names to your moderators and members, and have sci-fi-themed ranks and roles. Channels could be dedicated to the latest space rocket launches, or even just cool photos of the galaxy and stars! Make sure to add planet emoji and space-related emoji to your channel names and announcements too, and you’ll have a space-themed Discord server in no time!
2. Café
Why not try out a café theme to help your members get to know each other better? There are a whole plethora of online events you could host, for example, virtual coffee events, where virtual food and coffees could be ordered for instance. There are a whole variety of virtual food and coffee bots, that allow you to order virtual snacks or coffee. It simulates the experience, and is a whole lot of fun if you ask me! It really can be great when carried out with lots of members during chats.
3. Synthwave
With the huge popularity in the synthwave genre lately, why not celebrate this through a futuristic Discord server theme? You could have events, where members can discuss their favourite synthwave tracks or retro games and films. You could also have 1980s throwback events that include retro, 1980s YouTube videos and so forth. There’s a huge array of possibilities available with this theme, so do make sure to give it a try if you’re interested in it!
4. Mythical Castle
Why not create a mythical castle theme for a magical twist? This server theme could be great for those who love folklore, fairytales and ancient myths. While the “mythical castle” is only one possible theme, you’re only limited by your imagination of course! From ancient sea themes to magical gardens and so much more, the possibilities for mythical and magical themes are endless! To create your own theme, just pick a generic location noun, such as “garden”, “ocean”, “cove”, and then add a mythical/magical-themed adjective to it. This is then the name of your server’s theme!
5. Retro/Throwback
Retro themes can be a great way to encourage your server’s members to share their favourite throwback films, songs and games. You could create a poll asking server members for their favourite decade, and then create a server theme based on this! Members can then share their favourite songs or video games from this decade and discuss these with others. It could definitely be a great way to help server members get to know each other too, which is always a fantastic advantage overall! More discussion and engagement will help make your server more active, and lead to more fun in the long term!
6. Aesthetic Theme
With the huge variety of aesthetics out there these days, why not try incorporate some of these into your server? For example, if your server member’s love the neon aesthetic, you could have dedicated channels to sharing cool links or images from the neon aesthetic. Other aesthetics include the pink aesthetic, purple aesthetic, and cottagecore aesthetic. All in all, try to make it as aesthetic as possible, I’ve written another article on this if you’re interested in making your server more aesthetic!
7. Cottagecore
The cottagecore aesthetic has been really rising in popularity lately, and is definitely one of the most lovely aesthetics there is! Focusing on the beauty of nature and countryside life, this has all the hallmarks of a standout aesthetic. You could try creating a cottagecore theme on your server for instance, by adding aesthetic text fonts to your role names. Events could be based on cute tea mornings, or discussions where members discuss their favourite trends in the aesthetic.
8. Dark Academia Theme
The dark academia aesthetic has to be one of my favourite aesthetics there is! With its focus on writing, poetry and classic architecture, it definitely has to be one of the coolest aesthetics out there, and would be an amazing Discord server theme! You could have Gothic or Greek-inspired roles for moderators or members, or even just roles such as “Poet” or “Writer” for those writing poetry or like creative writing. Make sure to add plenty of roles that are within this aesthetic, such as interests within this aesthetic, favourite hobbies (writing, poetry, reading, etc.,) and so forth.
9. Ocean Theme
You could try an oceanic theme for a fun twist! This theme would be especially fitting during the summer, but could be tried out any time during the year of course! You could have a fun nautical theme throughout the server, for example channel names could have nautical-themed emoji appended to them, and roles could have cool seaside emoji added to them also.
10. Current Season
Why not celebrate the current season with a fun server theme dedicated to the season? For example, if it’s Spring, you could celebrate the gorgeous flowers that have just begun to bloom. Or if it’s Winter, you could host virtual coffee and hot chocolate events to help members get to know each other better. You could also create roles dedicated to the season, for example, the colors of each role could be a fun color from the season, such as bright, neon colors during Summer or muted pastels during Spring time. Red and orange roles could be used during Autumn too. It’s all up to your imagination!
